Post subject:  Fumoto valve leak

While placing the flywheel pin in for my TB change I noticed my Fumoto valve is leaking. Second oil change is coming up so first I have noticed the valve since installing.

I didn't look closely at it yet so question is, do these normally leak or do I not have it tightened down enough? I do recall not wanting to really crank down on it since our pans strip out so easily.

Mine doesn't. I snugged it similar to the original plug. I assume you mean it's leaking around the valve and not through it. Did you use the washer that came with it (blue material on mine)?

I would ensure that it's not leaking THROUGH the valve, they have a lifetime warranty.

Rather than just tightening it and chancing something bad, wait until your next oil change unless the leak is SO bad you cannot afford to wait.

Buy some Grey RTV sealant, remove the valve, and use the RTV sealant to shore up any gaps that might exist between the pan and the valve.

That will fix your problems, and that is EXACTLY what a dealership would do as well.

I hope this helps, best of luck!

I don't trust them. I pull the plug and drain. I have seen several people over tighten them causing a bloody problem. Oil Drain plug P/N 090-039 works great.
