I think I have a head gasket leak. Since this will be very expensive job I want someone who has experience with the Liberty CRD engine. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations. Shops in the Detroit area or St. Louis area would be preferred.

If you are normally within the borders of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and didn't take your CRD to Green Diesel Engineering, you are doing yourself a great disservice.

I wish I lived in Michigan when I had my problems.

I contacted Keith at GDE first. He does not do service and would not make a recommendation either.

I guess he has "retired" from working on customer CRDs. He (or his people) used to do timing belts, etc.

Sadly, he might not be doing service anymore because someone declined to return his timing tools to him from the rental service.

Very sad commentary on our community, and a big reason why I don't mail my tools out either. I did it once, but I don't think I will do that again. At this point, I think I will be selling them as I have enough other special tools and knowledge that I feel confident in doing the timing on a CRD with VW TDI tools.
