The exhaust cam locking pin just keeps turning. I got the intake locking pin in and it s tightened against block. The exhaust side just keeps turning and never tightens all the way. I felt it start to thread and then started turning it with a wrench. I could see the gap closing between the pin and the block. And now it wont back out. Just keeps spinning. What is wrong?

Those should turn in by hand, if you had to use a wrench to turn it, then you most likely have either cross threaded it or gutted the threads out of it.

I see a Helicoil in your immediate future.

If you did strip it out. i would think it would be best to remove the intake to drill and insert a Helicoil, therefore no metal would get into the engine.

I was able to get it out. I would lock some channel locks on it. Then put pressure on the channel locks in the direction the pin needs to come out and turn the channel locks about a quarter turn. After many repetitions I got it out. Hope to never need that hole again. I put some oil resistant/high temp silicone on the threads of the plug and threaded it in.

You, or whoever buys it from you, will need it every time that you change the TB.
Which is every 60 to 100k miles, depending on how lucky you feel.

Suggest that you get a salvage yard replacment top cover now and save it. You or the next owner will be glad that you did. Were you able to do the TB?
