My A/C is not working, the system is empty. The evaporator core was wet on the passenger side, which I contributed to the leaking intercooler and oil overfill ( I drained a lot of oul from the I/C when I had it removed). However, it seems like the evaporator is leaking as well, I will confirm with the dye soon.

The issue is that the radiator fan (the electric one) seems to come on as soon as the engine is running, and never shuts off. From the diagram, it looks like the ECM is controlling two relays that run it at the low or high speeds. I have not tested the relays to make sure that they are not stuck, but what else could be causing this? What tells the ECM to turn the fan on?

Next, I have a squekie noise when the engine is running. I suspect that one or both of the serpentine belt idlers are bad ( did not replace them when I did the TB), so I will do that. However, I noticed that my serpentine belt tensioner is jumping quite a bit when idling, I have not noticed this before on any other engine I have worked on, but I never worked on this kind of CRD before either.

I know that the CRD engine will vibrate more then the gas engine would, but when idling, I can feel the vibration shaking the truck a little. Are my mounts bad and how would I check?

Overall, I am dealing with smaller stuff now, but nothing major since the rockers/head gasket/TB change about 1500 miles ago. Took it to Detroit from Chicago, and back last week, and was surprised on how nice it rides. 70-75 average, about 23.5 MPG. Keith, we'll be doing business very soon.

Squeak and jumping tensioner are usually alternator pulley. A lot of info on here on that. I just replaced the whole alternator myself.

Look for the telltale red dust on the alternator. At this age and miles, rebuilt is way to go.
