As good as this would be for re-sale.im not happy because i no longer know how many miles im driving. I have noticed when my abs/brake light turns on i am not collecting miles on my odometer or trip. When the lights off it collects. I thought that chrysler products ran off the speed sensor for mile reading and not the ABS sensor. Can anyone help out? i have yet to check the code for the Abs light. |

I am having the exact same problem. Are you noticing a trend as to when it occurs? Mine is primarily: - after hard acceleration; or - after a hard bump on the road and generally in warmer weather (over 50+ degrees) It is alsoseeming to occur more frequently. I am actually on the site searching for answers now, but any help would be appreciated! |

Being a '05 your rear speed sensor(on top of the rear diff) also doubles as the rear ABS sensor so it's lumped into the ABS system. You have a 3 channel ABS system while the '06+ CRD's have a 4 channel ABS system and no speed sensor on top of the rear diff but have a ABS sensor on each wheel. |

Most common causes are bad wheel speed sensor(s) or if it's intermittent a wheel speed sensor wire broken inside the insulation. IIRC the broken wire is not uncommon on the 05s rear sensor. |

The rear wiring harness usually has a point where it has been rubbed through if anything and if your loosing your odm reading that is where i would start. Or you can go to the dealer and they can pin point the issue for you. Also if it is one of the fronts and is intermediate as you say it may be time for a new wheel bearing set as that is usually a big indicator unless the wire is broken. |

Same problem here as well, also same year 2005. I've replaced the sensor on the diff and not solved the problem, but after a search on all the forums that sensor and the wiring seems to be the cause of most peoples problems so definitely worth investigating first. Took it get diagnosed and no clear indication what the problem was, results came back that there was varying voltages being returned from the rear left and right sensors, I'm at a loss to understand this as only one rear sensor exist. Not sure what the value add of the diagnoses tool is if it comes up with this explanation. Everything else apparently ok One thing I've noticed now is the fault is consistent; Car starts off with ABS and Brake light on. Lights go out at about 10 mph If brakes are applied it feels through the foot brake like the ABS is cutting in very slightly (maybe a test routine or bad sensor indicating a locked wheel?) Once speed just below 20 mph lights will come on again and mile count freezes. This is the speed a second self test cycle is supposed to happen with the ABS and my hunch is there is something significant in this, but I don't know exactly what. Going to do more digging this weekend and will report back if I find anything, prime suspect is front hubs. |

2005 only has ONE sensor in the rear (on top of diff). Someone is incompetent. Speedo feed is from front. If speedo works but odo does not, problem is with rear. Since you replaced sensor, must be wiring. DOC |

Very good call there doc. I hopes its just the sensor on mine and not the wiring. Hate running new wires. Another thought and this was the case of my dodge 3/4 ton ram with a rear dana 60. The sensor has a crap ton of metal shavings on it and was putting off a bad reading. Ya i know metal shavings in diff is not good, its been taken care of since this problem. So im wondering if that could be the case, i dont know if the gear oil in this jeep has ever been changed
