Post subject:  Torque Pro Boost Value Problem

I reset the protocol to 9141-2, as has been suggested, but the boost value is still negative at idle (like -16.7, I think), while intake pressure is something like18. You have to raise the rpm with no load to almost 3000 before the boost value goes up to zero.

I thought at idle on these boost is roughly zero.

MAF and other values seem appropriate.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

My boost gauge shows a slight vacuum at idle, and the sensor is tapped into the intake cover. I regard it as normal as most vehicles are the same.
Also reving the engine without a load doesn't do much because the ecu knows there is no load and the injection profile hardly changes. I have heard it said the engine only uses about 10% of the fuel at idle that it would in gear and moving even at the same rpm and that was from a fuel injection specialist.

Torque is reading the absolute pressure sensor so you need to go to the vehicle profile and play with the boost adjustment. I am at 5000 ft so mine is set to -2.4. At lower altitudes it would be closer to zero. Ignore what the tip is about setting it to + or - 14.7.

Thanks CAT!

Current boost adjustment setting is +14.7. We are about 300' above sea level. I will try various values until I get close to zero at idle. What boost value do you see at idle with the adjustment value you have settled on?

Thanks again,

I see zero at idle with that adjustment. At your elevation you might need -0.2 or so.

A -0.1 boost adjustment value got me "0" boost at a cold idle with Intake psi at 14.6. What was odd was that the -0.2 yielded a positive value (0.3) and as I gradually kept increasing the negative adjustment value, the boost reading did not change at all. When I tried -0.1, the boost reading dropped to zero.

I just noticed other things are off such as fuel tank level. The dash gauge shows a third of a tank while Torque thinks it is 83% full. Have you bothered to try to correct other values?

Thanks again!

Just curious...
How can the Torque Pro software provide accurate fuel tank readings when the stock fuel
gauge isnt accurate either?

Also, what is the best OBDII bluetooth adapter to use? I think I am finally gonna buy an android
tablet and try using Torque Pro.

1. I think the reason I saw no change was I was not waiting long enough for the ECU to reconnect and I was just seeing the previous, stored value.

Flash, most of us are using a very cheap "ELM327" with a black opaque body and blue/orange graphics. There are many others, but since this whole thing can be a bit funky, I would stick with the one most of us have to take at least one variable out of the equation. Just search ELM327 on Ebay and scroll down.

Really wish we could figure out those PID values for oil pressure and trans temp. Mr. Mopar has assured us they are in there to be read.
