Came across this http://www.dieselenginetrader.com/engines/engine_details.cfm?id=66146# today while looking up some other items. Considering the cost of parts of the engine, seems a 0 mileage complete engine for $3600 doesn't sound bad. Don't know how it was taken from 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan though...but maybe someone could use this?

Well for one thing the CRD motors in the mini van even thought still a 2.8L it is different from the current liberties motor. I think if I was going to buy it I would contact GDE and ask Keith.

IIRC that's gotta be one of those "crate" Dodge Caravan engines still floating around out there.
Last I heard they are "different" and most importantly they are without thier accociated ECU. And with out thier computer they are nothing more than a boat anchor!
Unfortunately these VM Motori motors we run are highly specialized and thier tagged electronics are proprietary to the run of vehicles they were installed in. Just try to connect a regular OBD11 scanner to the plug under the dash of a KJ CRD and you see what I mean.

I didn't notice until after I posted that it was without associated electronics. Wonder how much of the hardware would fit if someone had a bad head, etc. and could use their existing electronics.

That's the RA428 engine that's 100% different from the KJ. Unfortunately it's not worth much more than as a lawn ornament, also since the RT engine has a different rear face of block and the only thing that will bolt to it is the 62TE transaxle that's about as strong as that in a lawnmower.
