Like the title says my FCV is buzzing. I have read that a plastic gear strips and this seems likely. what I am not sure of is, do I need to replace it? take the butterfly out? or just unplug it? I do have the GDE tune. How hard is it to get this out if I need to.

Thanks for any help! Mark

Well Keith from GDE just email me and said I could just unplug it and it would be fine. I don't have a CEL on so I will leave it unplugged and forget about it.

I trust your aware of its role in preventing runaway of the engine, a rare event but that's one reason its there.

and even though it's rare don't forget if it does happen you won't be able to turn off the engine. You will have to starve it of air by blocking the intake.

The FCV is not used by the computer to prevent a runaway. The computer doesn't have that as part of its programming.

EGR flow is eliminated as RPM rises, which also cuts power to the FCV. But if your MAF is disconnected, the FCV isn't used at all anyway.
