There is oil leaking on the driver side of the 2.8L. It seems to be coming from about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up the engine. What is over on that side that has to do with oil?

Could it be the value cover gasket?

I see parts over there but I don't even know what to call them. When I looked under the truck and up at the engine I could see what looked like wires inside a pipe. The starter is located there. Some of the starter has evidence of oil on it. the pipes with the wires in them have oil all over them.

I there some type of oil cooler at this location that might be leaking?

Is there a gasket kit for that stuff?

etc...

lost

I'm looking and I'm thinking that it is actually coming from the top of the engine. Maybe a cracked valve cover?

More than likely it's either the intercooler hose on that side, or the plug for your timing pin in the intake side has come loose.

Check the intercooler hose for cracks/leaks, and then check the pin for the intake timing pin to see if it's open.

You can find the intercooler hose info in the Noob Guide, the timing pin in Sir Sam's timing belt walkthrough or possibly in a post about the timing belt (there are several here).

I also have a #4 glow plug related codes throwing. I don't remember the 4 codes but all related to the glow plug in some way.

I think that I know what it is now. It is a fuel leak, not an oil leak. I'll now concentrate on the fuel rail. Know nothing about the fuel rail except 20,000 psi. wow!!

I tightened up the fuel line closest to the firewall and the leak has stopped. I checked the others and couldn't budge them at all. The one I tightened only moved about an 1/8 of an inch.

No money spent.
I feel better. .
Not so lost.

Good deal, this is a good excuse to get a 6 pack with all the money you saved yourself, and celebrate!

Yes sir! Hexus: I'll get right on that. I'm just finished the TB change on my wife's 2005 crd. Now it's time for mine. I'm just glad that I don't have to fork out any money on this fix.
