| Post subject: | No power at low rpms |
I have an 05 with 104k miles. Just in the last 2 months. I have noticed that when the torque converter locks up with the rpms less than 2k we have very little power until the rpms get over 2k. It seems to drive like normal once the rpms are over 2k. It may also have a little exhaust leak that can only be heard at idle. (I am not sure if it hasn't always been that noisy, as it is my wife's daily driver, and she hasn't complained about it being noisier.) I have not been able to find any exhaust leak, however. It continues to run smoothly and the mpgs have not dropped any. I am suspicious of the air intake valve at the bottom of the intake manifold. Have any of you run into the same symptoms? Thanks! |

Sounds like a low boost problem. If there IS an exhaust leak, in front of the turbo, it could cause a low boost problem. Check the simple things first, like: Air filter Boost hoses for tears or holes A torn turbo inlet hose Gunked up MAP sensor A properly functioning turbo boost solenoid and actuator |

Check to see if your EGR pipe from the exhaust manifold to the valve is leaking at the exhaust manifold clamp end, they have been known to crack there, there would be no code but you will be down on power. |

Great! Thanks for the advice. I will check them out and let you know. |

At 104,000 miles, you need to have your timing belt changed if you haven't already done that. This is an interference engine, and going beyond 100,000 miles on the original TB is risking catastrophic failure and very expensive repairs. Just a word of caution. |
