2006 Liberty 82000 miles. Just got detailed yesterday and they shampooed it twice something may have gotten wet? It feels dry now in there----not sure if this is connected but wanted to mention it. As soon as I start the Jeep it goes crazy full throttle. If I put it in gear I can hardly hold it with the brakes. Shut it off several times and restarted -did the same thing each time. It did not do this on the way home last night after work. Put it in the garage with the windows down to let the wet carpet dry out. Went to go to work this morning (going to be late now, thanks Jeep!) and this happened. Any inklings? Ryan |

Did you check the obvious possibility of a stuck down or partially down go pedal? I ask because I've experienced a sticky pedal, cured by cleaning a some silicone spray lube. |

The CRD has a drive by wire system for the throttle. If your foot (or the go pedal) is asking for acceleration at the same time the brake is being pushed, the engine SHOULD automatically cut the power back to idle. Somebody else can verify that the CRD has this safety system in the computer, but it should be included in all the DBW cars. I know VW, Ford, Chevy, and Toyota have it. The next question is: if the CRD has this safety, and your jeep is still trying to take off on you... Where is the runaway coming from? Check for excessive oil in the engine end of the intake, maybe try starting with the intake hoses disconnected to verify that it isn't an oil runaway. After that, I'm stumped right now. |

I will have to double check that I just had to get to work so hopped into the other car.now that I am work the project is on pause so I didn't need to rush here... figures. Maybe the mat is pushing down on the pedal as things were rearranged when they put everything back, somehow got shifted - didn't think about that since I was not expecting this, and was in "get to work on time" mode. Thanks for the logical slap upside the head to check the mats or stuck pedal. I am not sure about the engine cut-off if brake and throttle are pressed. I do not think that is true since I have manually pushed both pedals at the same time like that in the past (not full throttle though) and the engine did not cut out. |

I'd be checking that gas pedal, they could have damaged it when cleaning. It's not a cheap gas pedal either. |

You probably just need to let it dry out honestly. |

if the mats were removed, there is a hook on the driver side to keep mat from shifting forward and interrupting the pedals. Make sure it is hooked... |

Whew. Just the floor mat wedged against the pedal. Glad it was simple. |

Glad it was simple! It drives me crazy when the average car wash droid just flings the mats around. |
