Just go to your local autoparts store or local muffler shop. Glasspaks can be had for under $25. Us old timers call them Cherry Bombs.

With the glasspacks I would be worried about them chocking up with the larger diesel particulates. Glasspacks are just that; a tube full of packed glass fibre to trap the noise. I would go with an open chamber design like a flowmaster which, I would think, is less likely to clog.

I had a glasspack installed yesterday. The turbo spools quicker and you can hear the turbo whoosh. The truck is still on its first tank of fuel so I'm not able to comment on mileage. If you're sitting on the fence when it comes to this mod, don't.

I just got a glasspack installed this morning. After hearing it, I wouldn't pay more for a flowmaster. The sound difference just didn't blow me away. That's good though, I wasn't looking for a loud exhaust. I'm entirely pleased with mine. Standing behind the vehicle at idle, there is just a slight new low rumble to it. Nothing loud or attention getting, just a deeper tone. Turbo spool is more noticeable with the windows down, and there's a more agressive rumble when you goose it past a close by wall or building. I love it. I can't comment yet on highway drone as I haven't had it out on the interstate, but cruising in town at 40mph there is NO drone. I promise you my girlfriend will never notice the difference Get one!

I too have a glass-pack, a stainless magnaflow unit. $60 shipped on ebay. mileage went up .5MPG. it's a pretty good mod.

it is really not loud at all, I notice it the most while at an idle. It is weird actually, I may add a muffler but this was the cheapest way for me to get rid of the stock muffler for now.

They don't have cut-away detail like the other mufflers on the site but notice they say "Suitable for some turbo diesel applications". May have to give flowmaster a call.

Try here Flowmaster and then click on the standard Flowmaster 40 (that is what I have and it will show the insides) thumbnail. The 40 standard is as quite as OEM muffler and without all the back pressure.

Joint the glasspack club. $30.00 and about a hour of my time. Initail thoughts are a little more noise, maybe a little more power. But the one thing I do notice is the shift points are higher. I might disconnect the battery to reset the adaptive lerning of the trans.
