Going to be installing the TransGo shift kit in a few hours and looking for any tips on the job. The included instructions are very basic and just wondering what I should install and shouldn't install? Also what still can be installed with only the valve body removed? I an not planning on dropping the trans just going to drop the valve body for the solenoid pack replacement and figured I should do the shift kit since someone mentioned that it can help with the drain-back issue I am having. thanks for the help, I will being working on it in a few hours. I am at work now and the jeep is on the hoist with the pan off and draining into a bucket to avoid as much ATF4 on me as possible! |

Ya it's done, not difficult at all! Looks a little intimidating if you haven't done it before (I had not) but a very easy job. The worst part is mess to get the pan down and save as much ATF4 as possible since I just has the pan down to replace the filters a few weeks ago. Didn't want to spent the $60+ to replace it again. |

When I put new front pump in, there was a couple of parts that didn't fit so we didn't use them but did the replace the springs on the "pistons" that couldn't be replaced...sorry if I'm not making sense. Biggest tip: don't lose any of those check balls. |

Oilburner44 wrote: Why dod you skip the resistor part? It made the first two shifts jerky and unpredictable. Hard shifts at light acceleration is not what I was after. It just never acted right so I took it out |

My 2-3 shift would jar your eye teeth!!! Called Transgo and they said remove the resistor. No more harsh shifts and that was 4 years ago. |

by jar teeth do you mean slam gears? or the TQ conv. would shudder so bad it would jar your teeth. If it makes he shift quick and slams it im fine with that |

Like it pulled you back then knocked you forward. Did not feel cool. |

It was a very hard shift, no TC slip. I like firm shifts but this was ridiculous! |
