Since I'm pulling the head its the perfect time to do the glow plugs. Does anyone stateside have the steel 7volt glow plugs? I didn't find them anywhere except in Europe. |

I ordered mine from Europe, easy-peasy. Used a credit card. Use the company listed elsewhere in Lost. Arrived in about 10 days. |

Where did you get the $220 figure for the Italian steel glow plugs? At today's exchange rate 4 cost ca. US $161 + ca. $17 shipping for a total of under $180 vs. the OEM 5v which if a kit was still available (apparently it's not) was $125 + say $10 shipping + a minimum of $100 for a dealer ECU reflash = $235 or if you have an GDE tune the reflash is only $50 so the cost would drop to $185. |

My upgrade kit, with the same Bosch plugs and a Mopar relay is $125.00 plus shipping. My concern, at this time, about the Italian plugs is future availability and US availability. My thought on why some of the failures occur is that I suspect the relay sticks (maybe one time, maybe more) and overheats the plugs. I have seen it in older diesels, one took out my personal engine. I rebuilt it as a result. Another was on my Dads TDI. It only burned out the plugs, it did not break them thank goodness... So that said, I'd rather replace the relay anyhow. Better safe than sorry. Not saying the Italian plugs are not good. There have been many positive reviews on them. |

You are absolutely correct Mike. When my Glow plugs went out, it was a bad $7 relay that was shot as well and I was having battery drain issues where if I let the Jeep sit for 3 days it wouldn't start. I have since made that $7 part fall into my 12,500 maintenance schedule, because I don't want $7 causing $200+ in damages again. I would suggest the same to anyone, to replace both relays in there that look the same as the ASD Relay every 12,500 miles. Stitch in time saves 9 and all... |

I couldn't hold out and got the ones from Italy last week for 134 euro (177 USD) shipped to Ohio. Seemed to me to be the best option since I don't have the time to be messing around going to and fro to the dealer. The purchase was painless, flawless and was in my hands in 1 week. No affiliation with anyone. YYY, YMMV, etc., etc. |
