Just got my Samco replacement turbo hoses. I probably should have ordered the Samco or similar clamps, but I thought the Mercedes-stamped clamps on my turbo hoses looked pristine. Question....are those the original clamps from the factory? I was surprised to see the Mercedes clamps on there, since this is the VM Motori engine, and not the Mercedes engine like in the Grand Cherokee diesel. I guess I'll do a little research to make sure these clamps will not damage the Samcos (I know Samco mentions that their clamps have rolled edges...and certain other clamps are "designed" for silicone hoses). Anyone care to chime in on this? thanks....

They won't damage them, they are actually better than most OEM hose clamps.

Daimler at some point owned vm motori. In fact I believe it owned Detroit diesel that owned vm motori. Daimler also owned Chrysler, which I think contributed to development of the GC diesel with Mercedes engine and liberty with vm motori. Now I believe vm motori is owned by fiat, like Chrysler. I bet we'll see lots of magneti marelli stuff under the hood of Jeeps...
