| Post subject: | Toronto - OBD reader help |
I'm a relatively new-owner of a 06 Jeep Liberty CRD and I've got a CEL. I've tried a number of different OBD readers including the OBDLink MX bluetooth reader with TorquePro (on Android) and although connected I'm not able to read any fault codes. I've tried an ELM327 bluetooth with Torque and 2 different stand-alone OBD reader scantools, and I'm seeing the same behavior. Is there anyone in the Toronto area that could help me pull the code? Innova 3030 is cheap and works for engine codes with the KJ CRD. Many scantools do not work with this vehicle. If the 3030, does not work, go to the Jeep website put in your VIN and see if it has not had all the "updates". There was a reflash that made it more compatible with aftermarket scan tools. DOC |

Like Doc said, I use the Innova 3160 on all my vehicles, it is great with CAN. |

I have a 3160, as well. However, on my '05, it only will pull ABS codes. It does not work for engine codes. There are slight differences between '05 and '06. I have a 3120 that does not work at all with our CRD. DOC |

I retried my Autel Maxitrip TP100 scan gauge and this time I was able to pull 2 codes. P1140 and P0401 ... FCV and EGR related. I need to confirm with Keith at GDE that the Ecotune can eliminate both of those CELs. |

The ELM327 with Torque Pro should work fine on your 2006. I've never had any issues with it other than the known hangups. Are you sure you've got the protocol set up correctly? |

Am I sure? No, but I've tried several times. I only have Torque Pro, not the Torque Scan add-on. I've searched the forum and I don't see any suggestions on how to setup Torque to read the codes off the CRD. What settings do you use? |

Autoselect doesn't work properly for our CRD. You need to manually select ISO 9141-2 (5b init, 10.4k baud) as the preferred protocol |

Dirtmover, thanks for the setup info. After setting up a Liberty CRD profile with the 10.4 The codes popped up the same, but came back with one more. U0002 - <no detail> P0401 - Powertrain - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected P1140 - Powertrain - HO2S Transition Time Ratio Bank 1 Sensor 2 Regarding U0002, I didn't see that on my other OBD reader. Apparently it means "Can C Bus off Performance". Should I be concerned? |

You'll need to get it fixed with a GDE tune before your next Drive Clean. |

imclumzy wrote: Already ordered Then those codes should clear right up. P1140 is a broken FCV, and P0401 is the low EGR flow caused by the broken FCV. |
