I hope you did your homework and didn't get a '53' block..great if you didn't..
the engine are solid. except for a 53 block..
what's behind the engine? whose tranny...dodge??..Allison? I hope a modified dodge..their ok to start but with mods pretty soild..an allison..even better if you get a mt545 ot mt643..or later tranny..
i had a mt643 in my bus behind a detroit 8.2L..no problems..I wish i had had the money to mod the engine to push the tranny..I think it would have taken double the output of the DD without a problem.
you didn't get a model with a DPF? did you?? - I hope not..from the fry pan to the fryer..I hope not

Haven't heard of anyone putting the MT545 or 643s in Dodge pickups. Not saying nobody has, I just haven't seen it mentioned on places that deal with CTDs. Unless he bought one modified by someone like Gabe over in Mansfield, OH ("GMac" or similar on several diesel enthusiast sites, who put an Ally 1000 5-sp behind a 99 Ram 2500, who, BTW, quoted me est'd $8000 to put one behind my 05 Ram, which had a 6-sp stick behind it), it's probably going to have a stock or built 47/48 series (extended 727), (unless it's got the 6-speed autos, which are pretty stout trannys.) If so, I would want one that was built by Goerend or Suncoast, or someone with similar reputation.
Speaking of $8000, I bet with all the money I've sunk into this and the 2001 gasser I bought before it, I could've had Gabe put an Allison 1000 in that 05.

Hindsight is 20/20.
