Well I am unfortunately finally parting ways with my CRD and wanted to offer it up to you all here first before exploring other options. You all were extremely helpful to me during my court battle which I regretfully lost and and now hoping someone would be interested in fixing up my jeep. It has just over 102,000 miles on it and needs to be in the hands of someone who can work on these things. I've attempted to explain the issues I've had with it in detail. If any of you have any questions, please let me know.

Here is the link to the pics

I did the best I could where it sits with trying to clean it up, although I would have preferred to have taken it to get detailed, and especially cleaned up the seats a bit. As you can see from the photos, they are stained in some areas and my attempts at cleaning them have proven futile. (Any ideas or suggestions are welcome)

Now on to the rest of the issues. I suspected timing belt failure nearly 2 years ago now and after taking it to the dealership and getting an an inflated estimate, I opted for a cheaper option in town which turned out to be a huge mistake. The mechanic put on the new timing belt, took my jeep for a test drive and during that drive, said it started running bad again. I then had it towed to Hill Kelley Dodge in Pensacola, FL and was told the timing belt failure possibly caused damage to the cylinder head. I was quoted a small fortune for a new cylinder head and new rocker and lifter arms.

If it were up to me, I would still love to get it fixed, but unfortunately, I've tried for 2 years now trying to find someone I can trust to work on the thing and nobody wants to touch it. There are 2 independent shops who work on diesels where in live in Mobile, AL, and 1 of them caused the mess I'm in now.

If in fact the cylinder head needs to be replaced and the dealership diagnosis is accurate, it can be ordered from http://www.idparts.com for $1,759 and at last check, the rocker and lifter arms were approx. $375 for the set of 16. I ordered a Gates timing belt from Amazon for the repair and still have it. It appears to be fully in tact and hopefully usable.

As for the other minor issues, the rear window actuator needs to be replaced as does the rear driver tail light assembly. The windshield is also cracked pretty good and likely needs replaced as well. The body is mostly fine and in very good shape. There is a small dent in the hood and scratch/dent over the gas tank. The battery will likely also need a charge or be replaced.

There are 4 new fuel injectors that were replaced at the dealership in 2012 and have less than 15,000 miles on them. A new starter was also added at Hill Kelley Dodge last year while it was sitting in the shop. I also have 2 new front tires with less than 5,000 miles on the tread. The back ones are a bit older, but still in good shape. All work and repairs that were performed before the timing failure were done at Chrysler dealerships.

The engine is currently torn down to the timing belt and all of the parts/screws/bolts are boxed up in the back of the Jeep.

My apologies for being so long winded, but I wanted to explain in full detail what you would be buying and possibly what you would be up against in fixing this thing. You all at the lostjeep forum have been very helpful to me during this whole ordeal and I want to be completely honest and up front with anyone who may be interested in purchasing my CRD. I am asking $4,100 for it as it sits now. It is not driveable and we would have to arrange for towing/shipping from Daphne, AL.

I will respond here to any questions or please feel free to email me as well. hatfield2323@yahoo.com

I'm still willing to try putting it back together for you, but I don't think you would end up making much more than you are asking now - the values have unfortunately really bottomed out recently.

I'm sorry you lost the court case, and also sorry that they didn't call on me to be an expert for you.

Hey Geordi. Thanks for the kind words, they are much appreciated.

I wish it could have worked out for you to repair it but my fear all along has been that I would need additional parts that aren't readily available once you got here to fix it. I'm trying to move in the next few months so I've decided to cut my losses and move on.

I very much appreciate your help along the way. The judge in my case wanted me to hire an ASE certified mechanic to document every detail of the engine tear down to verify the damage caused by the shop I took it to. This was in addition to going through the deposition process as well as testifying in court. I was looking at an additional $3k or so to satisfy his demands and at that point it was no longer feasible for me to fight.

It sucks, and it was a very costly and expensive lesson. I hired friend of mine recently out of law school to represent me and instead I wish I would have hired the slimeball attorney who used every dirty trick in the book against us.

We even caught the wrench monkey mechanic in several lies during his deposition, had him on record saying that he failed to examine the rocker and lifter arms after the botched timing job but instead suspected the fuel injectors to be the issue. Showed the judge the page straight out of the service manual stating the rocker and lifter arms were the designed fail point of the engine, but that still wasn't enough.

Was it a corrupt judge, inexperienced attorney, combination of both, who knows, but it's over and time to move on.
