I did a search and it came up empty. I am going to install those three gauges and am loooking for input on brand, location of both the gauges and the sending units. all input will be greatly appreciated except saying it is a waste and not to do it. Those I am not interested in. Sorry if you are offended. |

I've got a nice boost gauge at home, but I have also come up dry in searching on a suitable place to hook it up too. |

I've got several gauges in the boxes. Just waiting for some free time to install them. I plan on putting boost and EGT in an A-pillar pod and trans temp, water temp, oil pressure, and voltage in an overhead quad pod. The quad pod may or may not fit and will probably require modification to fit. Locations for senders are not jumping out at me. When it comes time to start installing things I'll probably park the Jeep in the garage and drive my truck. This way I can take my time and start disassembling the engine compartment to see what I can find. Here is my speculation... EGT - I'll probably end up tapping the exhaust manifold. The easiest way might be from the bottom, or maybe removing some things to get to the top. An idea I had was disconnecting the EGR port and creating a fitting to go into the EGR hole that would hold the EGT sender. I don't know how feasible that is though. Don't know if the EGR would still function without error codes or problems. Boost - I'm planning to put the sender in where the intake tube goes into the intake manifold. This way I can get the shavings out. If the metal is too thin to tap (or I screw it up) I bought some drain plug kits I can use. Oil pressure - Probably 'T' into the factory oil pressure sensor. I've been considering integrating the oil pressure sensor with a bypass oil filter setup. There seems to be a plug on the front of the oil pan that could be used but it's only about 1" from the front axle assembly so things would be tight. I'm also not sure what kind of threads are on that plug or the factory oil sender. I'm hoping for normal NPT but you never know. Trans temp - I have a remote filter with a temperature probe port so I'm using that. http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/transfilter.htm Water temp - Have no clue on that one. I'd like to find a drain plug in the block but so far I haven't. I haven't found any plugs in the manifold or thermostat housing but I haven't looked real hard yet. Voltage - The only easy gauge in the bunch. |

Check out TS Performance, www.tsperformance.com . They sell a unit called the MPD Monitor. Works as a stand alone unit, small enough to sit right on top of the steering column, and can be ordered with a heads-up display to show one reading on the windshield. Monitors EGT, Boost, Fuel Rail Pressure, and RPM. Called them up a couple months back, and other than the pyro for EGT's, they use connectors that hook into the factory harness and use the OEM sensors for boost, fuel rail pressure, and rpm. Quoted price at the time was $500, may have changed since then. Also check out the BD X-Monitor, www.dieselperformance.com . If you call up their price sheets, dated March 10th '06, they're developing a version for the CRD that mounts in the overhead, similar to the EVIC, that displays EGT and Boost. Price probably around $450. |

I am leaning toward the MPD Monitor. Initial cost is a bit high but, it looks like the most inexpensive unit that will provide the parameters that I want. They haven't shipped any yet, but expect to next week. |

After considering all the variable: price, accuracy, placement, safety issues I feel the best unit is the TS Performance MPD Monitor. I will post how it is. Suppose to arrive next week. |

Sorry to say it hasn't been released yet. Maybe next week. Shoot, I haven't had time to do anything to the CRD except drive it. Hopefully next week. Nah, I got to get the bike ready for a 10 day Blue Ridge Parkway trip. We leave on the 6/17 and I also promised my daughter new struts, shocks, and springs on her 97 T-Bird before the 17th. The good news is the CRD is running great. |

If I wasn't so busy travelling for the next two months I would be up their Arse about it. Maybe it will be there when i get home on 8/12. Left Castle Rock, CO this morning and travelled to Heber City, UT. We took US 40 just West of Denver. Did some serious climbing and decending. Highest point was 11,700 ft through one pass and 9,700 ft through the other. Stopped in Steamboat Springs for lunch. The CRD ran flawlessly even though I really flogged it hard in places. Was passing a piggy back tanker and he didn't want me to pass. Ended up out of O/D at 3800 rpm about 90 mph to get by. Motor is starting to break in. |
