As far as I know the GDE scan tool will not help identify a bad TPMS sensor.
I'm speculating a bit based on other chats but there seem to be several EVIC modules and apparently not all of them display individual tire pressures for the 4 tires on the ground when you step through the displays. The FSM and Owner's Manual, if you believe them, implies that if a TPMS sensor goes bad the EVIC will display a message as to which one is bad.
The EVIC will only display the correct (or any) tire information if the BCM has been told that the car HAS an EVIC display. I was able to get an EVIC into my CRD limited, but as it never had one initially, the EVIC powered up and showed the tires... Then flashed to another screen and the tire information was hidden forever after.
Generic scanners cannot access the BCM, so they cannot access the TPMS system which is buried in the BCM. The overpriced "AutoEnginuity" system CAN read the TPMS as well as many other systems... BUT that is a look-and-no-touching kind of system. You can't change anything like recoding the BCM. It will read and clear codes from just about everything however. I call it overpriced because you have to buy their generic setup first, THEN purchase the "Chrysler Advanced" system which is... Another full dongle system. Duplicating what you already have. There is no need (other than pure greed) for you to be forced into buying anything other than the advanced scanners. Their "support" is also crap, unresponsive to questions about what their system can actually DO (Oh, just read our website!) and you are only "renting" the current version of the software. If you want new features (that they are ambiguous on what they might be) you have to pay again and again and again.
NOT worth the money.
Every "good" scanner you must buy updates for it every year if you want to keep current on new model years and revised older model years. It's about $600 a year for Domestic,$600 for Asian, and then $600 for European which means $1800 a year to cover everything but companies like Snapon will bundle updates and give discounts for repeat updating which does help.
Heck the dealerships must even buy updates for each of there scanners every year, they must, and some dealers have many OE level scanners.
