Post subject:  Replaced Glow Plug - Code Still There

I had 4 new Etecno 7v glow plugs installed back in September. A few weeks ago my check engine light went on and I got a code P1267 (P0674) #4 glow plug failure. Ordered a replacement glow plug from IDparts and waited. Before receiving & installing the replacement plug, I ran the code reader again and got P1263 & P1267 (P0672 & P0674) - #2 and #4 failures. Replaced #4 and it's still throwing the same codes.

Codes come back at startup after I clear them. Interestingly, codes also come back after I drive on the highway then slow down below 30mph or so (for a toll, for example).

I contacted Etecno after the first failure and they said it's possible they had a bad batch. Since I originally bought my glow plugs from IDparts and I ordered the replacement from them, is it possible I got another one of the bad batches? Or could this be something else?

starts and drives fine, just showing the CEL with these codes. My GDE tune is programmed for 7v glow plugs

Make sure gp relay is fully seated when plugged in, it has a very tight gasket. Make sure it is not rolled out of place.

Check the 4 pin connector at the gp harness and make sure it's snapped in tight.

The individual plugs must also snap in place over the glowplugs.

You can easily check for continuity at the gp relay harness (G1-G4). You can also check voltage/pulse at the 4pin connector. Unplug the CTS to achieve full glow cycle at -25degC.

Try another gp smart relay if codes persist.

Do you know what software version you have installed in your ecu 5v-vs-7v? ie. 1037-380811
You may have to check with your tuner for this info.

Thanks! My GDE tune is programmed for 7v

If the module or relay has failed, or is failing, would it make sense that 2 glow plug codes are shown and not all 4?

I would start with just ohming them out. It is easy to do from the glow plug harness.

Check your glow plug harness. I just noticed mine has been rubbing on something, although it did not get all the way through yet and short out.
