So recently my wifes 06 CRD started using coolant and I found that the radiator cap seal was done so I replaced it thinking all was well. It then started using more coolant. Last night I start tearing into it to try and find the leak, start her up and have coolant dripping on the ground. Checked all of the hoses and they look good, and then I get the air filter to turbo hose off and find a puddle of coolant under the thermostat housing and a loose bolt laying there. Turns out the the thermostat bolts had all backed out with one coming out completely causing the leak. Note, I did replace the thermostat about 3 months ago with a Behr unit and I know I torqued the bolts down to specs. Anyone else have this happen? If it happens again I guess I will get new bolts and use some thread locker. |

I normally do all my own work, but I had the dealer replace the thermostat about eight months ago when the Jeep was in for a factory recall. When I did my head gasket a few weeks ago I found the thermostat was barely tight, I mean like little to no pressure to loosen the nuts. There was residue around the housing that looked like it was a slow leak... Can't vogue for how tight the dealer made the thermostat but the hardware was certainly loose.... |

sounds like nothing few droops of blue lock tight won't fix. I'm checking mine tomorrow. |

Thanks for the info, good to know I am not alone. I will keep a close eye on it and let everyone know what happens. |
