So it's been about a month since we got our CRD. I got one motor mount in on the right side, transferred the shield and had to order one more cause Dallas Dodge sent me a tranny mount for that side...Changed the T stat and the temp. gauge went from 1/4 to 1/2, now there is "closed loop"... Did the ORM and cleaned the MAP during the first week. I added some Sea Foam to the tranny when I did the motor mount cause I was encountering inconsistent ES vs. MPH. 1700rpm = 55mph and 1900rpm = 60mph. Since the SF the ES is 1500rpm = 55mph. Lock up seems to occur at 60 plus mph. and I encountered a shudder now that the temp. is in spec. The speed ohmmeter is slow by about 4 miles too, any suggestions? I know we need new tires but not sure it will help the problem.

I'm having a tough time following your experiment. Why did you add seafoam to the transmission? Seafoam and transmission fluid have nothing to do with speedometer calibration. All I can offer is my numbers for comparison: In 4th gear at 55 mph my engine is doing about 1800 rpm. In 5th gear at 62 mph my engine is doing about 1800 rpm. And yes, most every CRD owner has reported some sort of mis-calibration with either the speedometer, odometer or both. Most of the calibration errors are related to tire size. Compare your speedo and odo readings to that of a GPS to see how far off yours are. |

Speedometer and odometer data sources are independent hence both can be off by different amounts and in different directions. To the best of my knowledge acceptable error is +-5% but actual error varies between vehicles and of course by tire size. In my case both are pretty close to dead on when checked with GPS. GPS can check speed in a relatively short straight run but IMHO checking odometer should be done based on 2-3 runs on relatively straight and flat stretches of 25 miles or more. With the F-37 ECU and transmission flash full lock-up is ca. 62mph while without the F-37 flash or with the GDE standard tranny tune full lock-up is ca. 58mph. When in full lock-up I agree with flash7210 that 62mph is ca. 1800rpm. |
