Some thoughts on the sale price. I don't know what else might be wrong with the engine, but in stock form, these engines aren't really good for longevity. Assuming for a moment that the head gasket is the only issue, then here is what I would look at to replace:
Head gasket (obviously)
Rockers (just because we are already in there)
THE HEAD. This is a big possibility. How did the gasket fail? How many times did it overheat and how badly? These heads apparently can warp quite easily, and can't be repaired if they do.
Various and sundry small expendables in the fuel system and anything that is broken in the process.

Just in parts then, I see $2400 to fix this, if the head needs to be replaced. IDparts has the heads for $1760, which is a big bite. It might be available cheaper elsewhere, but maybe not with the same quality level.

I'm actually considering this one (Shut up RacerTracer) but I wouldn't be a buyer at 5k, not with so much in parts needed. Not running, you have a big hill to climb.

The engine has never overheated, so unless something else can cause a head warp then it should be ok. If you are interested I will entertain an offer. Thanks.
