Did a 4 wheel and parking brake job yesterday. I started with the left rear, and glad I did. I pulled everything out and the parking brake adjuster had the star adjuster frozen. I tried to get it to free up in the vice and couldn't. My local parts store had to order a kit and that wouldn't be in until the afternoon. Great, put a wheel back on and do the fronts and get the right rear ready to go. Of course, that adjuster was fine.
My Jeep, with 125k (probably well over 130k adjusted for odometer calibration), must be getting it's first complete brake job. The rear pads had the steel disintegrating. The left rear parking brake had no pad and the right rear, the pad came off. The fronts could have had a pad change in the first 73k the PO had it, but those rotors didnt come off. It took heat and a lot of sweat with a mallet to get them to come off.
I think the parking brake still needs adjusting. But it works a lot better. I just want to make sure that both sides are working properly. I ran out of time since I had to go into work after midnight. Lucky for me, it was an easy night with my lack of sleep.
