I have removed the FCC and I am jonesing to remove egr valve from side of engine. If I don't need it, I want it gone. I have read many bypass egr by looping hose, and in one instance read a gentlemen plugged both ends. Any overheating issues with removing tee, and plugging head? Makes the most sense, removing one failure point, the tee, and plugging head. But I don't want to remove a failure point, if it is going to cause a overheating issue.

Plug it and the water doesn't leave the head to go out to the EGR. It stays in the head to do it's job at cooling it.

About 1500 miles here, 400 of pulling 5500lbs. Nice and steady temps

I removed all of the egr crap.. Ran a length of hose from the head to the t to keep the coolant flowing.. My egr now resides in a bag on the garage floor

Didn't they make some CRD's in the EU that didn't have an EGR? I'm just wondering since some folks are keeping the EGR cooler line. Seems like it might give people more confidence without it if it wasn't part of the original design.

Like CATCRD said, plug the hole, that way the coolant stays in the head and does it job.

I have removed the EGR completely. I cut and welded shut the exhaust pipe flange(stainless steel) on the exhaust manifold and clamped it back on. Plugged the head(coolant nipple) on the drivers side, and removed the T on the passenger side and installed a new coolant hose from the pump housing nipple to the line going to the heater core. Just makes me feel better knowing I removed the cancer so to speak.

Also, I installed the weeks101 elbow kit at the same time. As luck would have it, I was replacing a blown turbo at the same time as well, so it all just kind of worked out.
