My crd has done this 3 times now when I turn it off there's a ticking/tapping sound on the drivers side that got for about 10 seconds. Don't know what it is any help would be great. It has a gde tune N I've unplugged the TPS because I read something that it was the control flow valve ? But I don't know |

I think its the vacuum pump/valve, papaindigo or somebody else can give you more details if they see this post. Btw, video doesn't work, link may be wrong. |

The video worked fine for me. That is the strangest sound I have ever heard. No clue what it is. I don't think its the vacuum pump. The vacuum pump is down in the crankcase, driven by the engine. My best guess is that its the FCV. Like maybe the valve is trying to close but the gears are stripped. You said you unplugged the TPS? The only TPS I know of is on the gas pedal. Maybe you meant the FVC (throttle blade thingy). Anyway, if you did completely unplug the FCV, it shouldn't be making any noise. Soooo... ... I have no clue. |

I managed to watch the video on the desktop, on the smartphone won't work for some reason... Initially, before listening to the sound, I thought it could be the tick from the vacuum canister or solenoid (not the pump as i wrongfully stated), but that doesn't seem to be the case, that sound is more muffled. I agree with flash, it could be the fcv trying to close. which side of the engine the sound comes from, driver or passenger? |

Man that's a weird and rather loud noise. Given that you say it's on the driver's side it might be the FCV (flow control valve) motor which does, apparently, run a bit after shutdown but why it would make such a loud noise I don't know. Take the cosmetic plastic engine cover off so you can quickly access the FCV (where the driver's side CAC hose attaches to the engine) and the next time it makes the noise see if that's where it's coming from. As loud as the noise is you may even be able to feel vibration by touching the FCV housing. I know you can disable the FCV, harmlessly, by removal of the flapper (2 small screw/bolts I think) but I don't know if you can disable it by unplugging the wiring. If it is the FCV I'd suggest, since you already have a GDE tune, that you remove the whole worthless mess with one of Week's kits, see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=78238 |

Never heard of such a sound. But to locate the ticking, I would start by removing the serpentine belt and checking to see that it isn't frayed, causing a slap tick slap on metal. If that isn't it, then try free spinning all the pulleys one by one and listen for any noise. Next would be to poke around with a mechanics stethoscope listening for the source. That's what I would do. Good luck |

Try unplugging the EGR valve. If it doesn't go away try unplugging the FCV. |
