What is the reason for my front tires to have a jagged outer edge.... every other tread has raised. The front passenger side tire is worse than the drivers

Could it be a bad wheel hub?

Alignment and/or worn parts. With IFS you really need to have the alignment checked and set if needed every 6 months or so.

Or you haven't rotated your tires in a very long time... I had a set of bf Goodrich t/a messed up like that, with good alignment (Firestone lifetime plan) and 1/4 thread left, I was too lazy to rotate them. Don't be like me, lol. Also, if you have custom rims, the offset can affect the thread wear.

It can also warn of damaged parts. Worn out ball joint or tie rod, wheel bearing.

A combination of positive camber and some under inflation can cause that.

I just had this exact problem. Took two days to do the job. You can do it faster. Buy two jeepn by all upper a arms and two lower a arms. The uppers come with serviceable ball joints and the lowers come with the bushings already pressed in. It is a pain in the booty to press them in your self. We spent the good part of the day doing this and we had to buy a shop press (yay new toys!) Also get two lower ball joints by Moog from Al. This will allow you to have an entirely new front end. You'll need an alignment afterwards. We have a lifetime from Firestone and they didn't mind the work we did. Good luck! Prior to this job we had replaced the front springs and shocks... If you haven't done that I highly suggest. I used OME CRD heavy with rs5000. Pep boys put them together for me for 50 bucks and they slip right in.

Gaad, that's a lot of work.

I believe Raf's Jeep has under 75K on it, so a total front end rebuild is unlikely to be needed. However, there could be a control arm bushing that is bad and the left front does take the most beating.

That is called "cupping" of the tire, lots of information found by Google when you search on that term.

It's going back to the front end shop on Monday. So far he found a leak at the front differential where the drive shaft meets.

It was the control arm bushing, left front. Doc444 called it...... Thanks.

The shop took care of that problem, but he didn't have time for the drive shaft seal

How difficult is it to replace the front drive shaft seal, has anyone ever done it?

control arm bushing caused the cupping, every other one on the outside only both sides? I have this problem also, just thought it was the tire and lack of rotation
