Tonight we had to back the CRD in deeper than normal at a boat launch. 1 mile up the road, limp mode seemed to kick in, but then when I pulled the CRD and boat to the side of the hill the engine had trouble idling in Park. Stalled. Waited 5 min. Started & drove home.
Thoughts anyone?
Tailpipe & magority of back tire was under water during loading boat on trailer. (Running the entire time).
Thanks!

Salt water/fresh water and CRD model year? If 06 could be wet unhappy wheel speed sensors making ESP system unhappy. Could be a transient limp mode which some, myself included, have experienced for no known reason. If salt water wash are thoroughly.

Otherwise just ignore and drive as symptom may never repeat. If it does then look for cause.

Was the ramp steeper than normal? Was the tank low on fuel? Maybe the pump sucked in a slug of air that purged after the restart.

....forgive me for not being able to get back on list till now.
Fresh water lake.
Steep enough boat ramp, since we had to to back up enough to submerge the bunks on trailer for sailboat.
I thought wet ESP sensors too. But then when we stopped on the side of the road, the jeep surging in rpms trying to stay running at idle...we put it in gear to try and continue up the road, but engine stalled.
Sat for 10-15 min...started up & ran fine all the way home (less than 2 miles away).
Been running it to work all week (60 miles/day) no issues.
I was told that more than 75% of the rear tire was underwater, the driver's door was not. (If that helps with a visual of angle.)
Thanks.
