Post subject:  No start, need help...

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my 2006 starting. I can crank it all day and nothing... I checked the rail pressure and only had 600-800 PSI, so I changed the MPROP (fuel pressure regulator) at the CP3 high pressure pump, and the complete rail (with sensors) off of another perfectly running jeep. Now the rail pressure is 1600 or so while cranking but still no start. If I mist a little diesel fuel into the intake she fires right up and runs. The rail pressure jumps up to 5500 -6000 or so at an idle.

I checked all of the harness for pinched or cut wires, nothing found. I changed the Crank and Cam sensors, no change...

The fuel filter is new too. All the banjo bolts are tight. No leaks found. No air in filter, primes right up and bleeds fine with no air.

The only thing I have not checked is the fuel lines from the tank forward. I know a bad line will cause the pump to suck air and not start, will check all the lines tomorrow.

I am getting several codes (using Autoenginuity) that won't seem to clear, they are:

P1186 INLET PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT
P0401 EGR FLOW INSUFFICIENT
U0146 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH GATEWAY "A"
P0093 FUEL SYSTEM LEAK DETECTED- LARGE LEAK

Due to the codes, or at least one of them, it goes into limp mode and stalls if I go over 1500 RPM in gear... So I'm a bit stumped. Anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible the high pressure pump is weak in that it won't create enough pressure from the starter, but once it is running the pressure will go up to normal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Nick

When you say that you checked all of the harness for pinched wires does that include the section of harness behind the fuel filter head mounting bracket? :?

Yes, I did check behind the filter head. No damage found...

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Nick
