Hey all I have been reading through the posts here for a few weeks now and am about ready to buy a new CRD when my wife gets out of school. I think I've found what I need to have the dealer do to it before I buy it:

TSB 18-008-06 Engine, Auto Trans Controls - Auto Trans and or Glow Pug and or SKIM Improvements
TSB 21-007-06 Auto Trans - Delayed Shift Engagement and or Related DTC's Set
Scan for any stored codes

Things that I plan on doing:
Install a high flow muffler
Install a new cvv
Change to 5-40 oil after break in
Add a fuel prefilter
Maybe add a chip, will wait and see if ppl start blowing there motors before I do this one.

If you guys can think of any thing else please, post it.

Change to 5-40 oil after a few hundred miles.

I got predator chip, lots of power and eliminates turbo lag. Didnt improve fuel mileage though.

Did your fuel mileage decrease?

One more thing. If you want a decent optioned one before 2008, you better start shopping now as ordering for the diesel option is closed and will not be in the line-up for 2007. So what's on the lot, or inbound to the dealers, is all there will be for a good year and a half.

Plus, we will all endure the rumors of it not returning at all until it is confirmed or absent on the 2008 option list that comes out around this time next year. They could always pull it and focus diesel technology on their more expensive models...

Suggest a big bottle of asprin, case of booze, good set of tools, AAA membership, etc...

You need to have a serious talk with the Service Manager at the dealer concerning the stack of TSB's before you sign. I wouldn't leave the lot until they are ALL done and you have clear documentation for each. If they get squimish, I would buy elsewhere. This thing will eat your lunch if you don't lay down the law with the dealer.
