| Post subject: | Cross Country Trip |
I am leaving Dec 5 from Upstate NY and pulling a 3500lb boat all the way to Phoenix AZ. I have been working on the Jeep (05 CRD) to get ready. So far I have put new front bearings, Euro converter, new tires, new brakes, new turbo hoses, checked all other hoses, changed oil& filters. I will take along an extra fuel filter, lots of tools, extra wheel bearings for the trailer. I am still getting the P0299 code and can't figure out why, I have checked everything I can check, but the jeep runs great so I put a piece of tape over the light and.....its gone in my mind (yes I have a small mind). Any other suggestions for the trip? |

I would check the sensor on the front of the air box. The little one. I had the same code and found that unplugged. I now have a zip tie and tape around it. |

It could also be bad wiring somewhere. I believe thats my issue as my MAF shows no data when I try to read from the ECU and the pressure sensor doesnt either. |

Two possibilities to check: Could you have a Charge Air Cooler (intercooler) leak causing the low boost pressure. Some have found a crack in the plastic end tank causing a leak and fixed the crack with JB Weld or similar product. Possible problem with the turbo vanes boost controller or maybe a hole in the plastic tube that runs from the boost control solenoid over to the turbo vane control diaphragm. Can be tested with a simple hand held vacuum pump like a MightyVac. I remember reading on here about one person who found a small hole or crack in that plastic pipe where it runs under the coolant reservoir and it was inside a protective cover... It uses vacuum to control the turbo vanes and if there is a leak the turbo vanes will not open up enought to produce full boost pressure... Let us know what you find.... |
