This is the Vacuum Reservoir Solenoid or Vacuum Control Solenoid for the Vacuum Reservoir
- strictly on-off operation, no regulation
- key-on connects the vacuum pump to the reservoir
- key-off disconnects the vacuum pump port, blocks the port to the reservoir to maintain vacuum after shutdown
- make sure you plumb the hoses correctly, as you found them - incorrect connection will dump vacuum reservoir at key-off

- NOTE: this is the solenoid as suggested for bypass test by GDE
That is NOT the Boost Pressure Solenoid, or Boost Control Solenoid, which is the larger of the two on the right fender, is mounted in front of the VRS, and which has the clear in-line fuel filter dangling below, used to filter the vent for the Vane Control Actuator
- BPS is a Pulse-Width-Modulated vacuum regulator valve
- connected to the vacuum reservoir, controls varying levels of vacuum to the VCA mounted to the turbo compressor housing
- hard plastic line to the VCA
