Post subject:  Turning Off Child Safety Locks?

Is it possible to turn off the child safety locks in our CRDs? If so, how?

I get annoyed when I get out to retrieve something from the back, only to find it locked. I then have to go back, flip the switch and let myself in. It's not a big deal, but I'd prefer to not have the car lock when I go over a certain speed. Thanks to anyone who can help out with this.

Look on shelf in top of glove box for owners manual. Page to instructions.

If not there go to for owner's page on Jeep web site and down load owners manuual.

Don't forget the back window also locks if you have the rear wiper on. This is to prevent the wiper from getting damaged if you tried to open the window. Cars with the evic turn the all doors lock on and off with the menu. Cars without use a combination of key fob buttons.

It should say in owners manual how to program/deprogram this. It should be able to be programmed with the key/ignition in your own driveway.

My father and I actually programmed the automatic lock over 15mph to happen on his 02 dodge Caravan a few weeks after he bought it using only the manual and the key. It did not come with the option engaged.
