Well my fellow CRDers. I will not be posting on this side of the forum no more due to, I no longer have access to the crd anymore. It's was the 'ol lady's and we are no more. You guys have been a big help on the short amount of time I access to it. I still have my YJ wrangler though, so I'll be posting all kind sof stuff on that side. Till next time jeepers.

This may be a blessing in more ways than one.

Chin up fellow Jeepster life's not over, more Jeeps to come, hopefully better ones and so on.

Well, in a couple of weeks when it breaks down again, offer to buy it for cheap.

Unless she was born with a wrench in her....hand, you may have gotten off easy and she has a continuing source of punishment.

Best of luck in the future. Anyone that owns one of these as their daily driver must be a very faith-filled person. You have to know how to work on it to own it at all, but trusting it to always get you to work and home again... That takes real guts.

Hey My CRD is my daily driver and actually my only motorized vehicle.. Yeah I have had a few issues but its not been that bad. the worst thing to break was my transmission, the engine so far with maintenance and mods to prevent issues have kept it going. the only times I have been stranded by it other than the Trans. were an alternator and a bad battery, none of those electrical events caused it to be towed away to be fixed either. The transmission we have seems to be problematic for some even in the Ram 1500 according to the local trans shop.

My wife really loves the Jeep though. There is a sigh of disgust when i tell her she has to drive my F150 for the day, which is pretty much loaded with leather, heated & a/c'd seats, big nav screen, satellite radio, etc.

She's probably afraid it is near empty and she will have to feed it.

F150: That's not a truck, it's an iron horse with a drinking problem! :-)r

More respect please. My CRD is my daily driver and has not had any issues beyond the expected stuff for the age. I can actually say that it has been 5 years of happy ownership.

Glad I'm not the only one that has one as a daily driver. I love my CRD... will be 6 years I had it this August. :JEEPIN:

I drove mine off the lot in 2005, it's had some issues, but still running 180k and 10 years later!

My CRD has been my daily driver for 2 years. 80 mile round trip commute. At least, until recently. I started rebuilding the whole front end due to a suspected failing CV axle. And it just won't stop raining on my days off. I will say that since I rely on a 10 year old vehicle (not because it's a CRD), I keep another vehicle available in case I need to perform any long term maintenance. Unlike my previous TDI Jetta, it has never needed to be dragged home on a hook.

175k miles and it still has it's EGR (dirty and throwing a code), stock thermostat, stock torque converter, and as far as I know, no ARP studs. I have in the past, and wouldn't hesitate in the future, taken it on an extended road trip. I wish I could buy one new, because most of the work I do on it is catching up with the previous owner's delayed maintenance.
