On any gas engine I wouldn't hesitate, but do you all think it's ok to run the engine minus the trans? hmm, and what about bolting the torque converter on for dampening? Just a recipe for a giant mess???

Ok, so I'll tell you why  Already have the transmission out, and I have a slight worry that this engine could have bottom end damage...

Not my area of much expertise but I don't see how a brief run could hurt anything. Should be about the equivalent of running in neutral or park. Now whether the "system" will let it even start with the tranny and its electronics unhooked I have no clue.

Thanks for the reply. Luckily they made the wires nice and long, so it's easy to hook the wires up with the trans on the ground, probably throw it in limp mode I'm guessing without the shaft moving, but that's no big deal.

Thanks, I've seen a couple run that way, but was worried about vibrations and our loose crank bearing situation :dizzy:

It might run rough because the lack of flywheel (torque converter). But I don't believe it will hurt the engine any.
