Post subject:  Help needed for stalling

This morning I experienced stalling and engine shut down after about a mile of travel. No codes, and I could re-start and drive another mile and then stall. I finally got the rig back home and will try to figure out the problem tonight. Any insights will be appreciated.

Stalling while moving at XX speed or stalling while stopping? Hot engine or cold engine? Not uncommon problem is bad crank position sensor which won't throw a code.

i assume you have good low pressure fuel supply , (lift pump) lately we seen MPROP valves failing sticking , no codes , mechanically failing that is one of the suspects , again make sure low pressure side is 100 % before you check into high pressure side

I had this problem while on a long trip with my 2002 Export CRD....engine would totaly die and I would grind to a halt. After a few seconds I could re-start and carry on for maybe an hour or a half hour before it repeated.

No codes posted and it got worse as I approached my destination.

Fortunately I had a new Mopar fuel filter behind my driver's seat that I had been meaning to replace  ....I got a Mechanic friend of mine to do this replacement and the Jeep has been fine now more than a year later.

My first thought was to replace the fuel filter, however it did not solve the problem. Code P0093 appeared on the test drive after the filter replacement. I noticed that my little lift pump located between the fuel tank and filter head is not running. Replacing that will be my next task.

That little lift pump is probably your problem if it is not running although P0093 is a Fuel Rail Malfunction Positive Pressure Deviation....ie. it suddenly got too much fuel pressure compared to its set point. Sounds like the filter was blocked and the new one caused a sudden fuel surge :?

Hopefully the code and the stalling will not reappear after fixing your lift pump problem.
