Well, I'm going to try this again. Just lost my complete posting...hope it doesn't appear twice. I've posted in this section as this is my CRD I'm working on, although headlights certainly are the same for the gasser models. In any case, I know these vehicles suck up a lot of money in terms of upgrades and everything else that costs a lot of money to make them reliable. That said, our 2005 CRD travels back and forth from South Carolina to Wyoming due to my son's college attendance there. Lots of night driving for him and these headlights are terrible. I did not want the vehicle to whack into an obstacle on the road due to it not being seen especially with all the expensive upgrades done to the vehicle. I recently upgraded to HID's on my VW TDI, so I went to the same installer who performs the conversions and asked him about the options for the Liberty. We sent the lights to him on Monday this week and found out tonight he had completed them shipping tomorrow, Thursday. Fairly fast turnaround. The business is Midwest Light Creations, http://www.midwestlight.biz and the job is not one of these Ebay, poor excuses for HID. I wanted these to work properly and not blind other drivers. The VW lighting is amazing. His cost is about $300 plus shipping back. He actually also cleaned up our plastic lenses as well. Pictures follow, they don't look as goofy as I thought based on pictures I've seek of the Wrangler JK conversions. ![]() ![]()

I was rear-ended in February and had my jeep totaled (frame damage). I got another one a month later and was side-swiped on the highway in October (totaled again!). No frame damage this time, so I'm rebuilding the vehicle myself to put it back on the road. When it is done I am adding a brake light strobe, as many marker lights as I can find and the brightest F@#&ING headlights I can find! I'm going to make sure everyone can see me from a mile away! I'm really curious to see how these turn out. |

Yeah I did the same thing, a pair of bi-xenon hid projectors mounted into the stock headlight bowls. I painted my reflectors "colonial red" to match the body color of my jeep. I have a thread in the electronics section with pictures of the build. Unfortunately my wife hit a deer a few months after I finished the retrofit which completely destroyed the left headlight and knocked the shroud off the right projector, so I have to fully rebuild one and open the other to reseat the shroud. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=78479 |

Looks ok. Buy my Sylvanias work well. I work at night and towed my trailer mostly at night. No issues seeing. My other half loves driving my Jeep at night because the headlights are so good. Sent from my Samsung Note 4 using Tapatalk. |

What about those super bright LED light bars? Those things are stupid bright. And you can turn them off so you dont blind oncomming drivers in normal city traffic. |

I think headlights can be like brakes, you put new ones on and realize the performance degradation over time. Similar with headlights. You're comfortable with the Sylvania or whatever bulb you're using. I happen to have several vehicles using Cibie or Hella housings with H4 bulbs. The difference between those and the HID is sizable. But, its a personal decision which depends on many factors only which the owner can determine. I've got the LED light bars for a Wrangler and a Cherokee in the fleet as well. Great idea and upgrade. But for normal driving where you can't use the light bar without attracting the wrong attention, properly adjusted HID's are the ticket...so to speak. The pictures I enclosed are what the website owner sent back. Once installed, I will take some pictures. I'll also do a comparison between the Wrangler JK lights (which look similar) and the new HIDs in the Liberty. |

It really sucks for people in states that have laws against good lights. I have LED Vision X light bars on all my rigs.....even my boats! They are the way to go. Please do post pics of your HID upgrades! |

If you get a good set of Bi-xenon projectors and put 50W HID's in them they will make the stock headlights look absolutely stupid. Its not just about the power output, its also the beam pattern, and the beam pattern on these Jeeps suck. Aside from my wifes 1990 4Runner and maybe my parents 2001 CRV, this has the worst headlights I've driven with. I have a set of LED fog lights in my ARB and have a 28"(?) LED light bar going on too, but I am going to rebuild my HID projectors after the deer strike because they were SO good. |

Will JK headlights fit? I've often wondered if the JK LED or Projector headlights would swap in easily. |

I've wondered that as well whether the JK lights fit. But, in looking at the Liberty lights in depth, they are angled. The JK lights seem simply round. Update, Jeff, the installer told us that one of the reflectors was damaged and he glued it. It had separated from the housing. So we got the housing back on Saturday and during shipping, the reflector separated again from the housing. So, talked to Jeff and he said try screwing the housing shaft to the bucket. I did and it did not work even with new glue. Sooo, talked to Jeff and he gave me the low down on how to fix it. We found a correct side housing in the pull a part and took the lens off, leaving the reflector and bucket. Got new butyl sealant and put it back together with the HID unit. We did not get the correct conversion plugs either so those are on order. The HID's come with an H4 plug and the Liberty has a 9007 plug. All in a days work. Bottom line, learned how to take apart lights and put them back together. |
