| Post subject: | Booster pump voltage problem |
I have a problem with the power supply to my little in-line booster pump that is located between the fuel tank and filter head. Its powered by the factory in-tank pump circuit (fuse #7), which also powers the left tail light. I noticed that my tail light was not coming on, and I discovered that the #7 fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and the tail light works. However, there is only 9V being delivered to the fuel pump which is not sufficient to power it. I've got a good ground, and checked visible wires for damage. The fuel pump runs fine when directly connected to a battery. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem will be appreciated. |

You have a significant voltage drop. Why is the question. Test voltage at the fuse for that circuit. If it's battery voltage, then there is a wiring problem after that point in the circuit. Corroded wires, bad grounds or something else could be at play. I recommend working backward in the circuit until you find the cause. |

Is your pump connected to the correct circuit? In the power distribution center, in front of the battery, fuse 17 is for the lift pump and it has its own dedicated relay. My lift pump is wired into the relay. |

Flash1720, you are correct. Thank you for the response. When I saw the blown #7 fuse, I immediately associated it with my pump problem. Fuse #17 under the hood is for the lift pump. That fuse was partially blown. I've never seen a partially blown fuse, and it was the reason that I was seeing only 9V at the pump. |
