I replaced my motor mounts 40k miles ago, and now I'm getting a vibration again. 'm not even sure it's the mounts, but I think it's the passenger side. I can't remember what I did last time to get the engine to rise off of the old mount.
I drove the Jeep onto ramps, and I think that may be the problem. I have taken off the bolts on the passenger side, and I loosened the driver's side. I have a block of wood on the oil pan, and I have been gently jacking it up. The motor doesn't move a millimeter.
Is the Jeep supposed to be level? I am raising the whole suspension up, but I figured the engine would eventually move. It doesn't, but I didn't lift too hard. I don't want to break anything.
I printed the manual from the CRD tech section, and I tried to find the GDE link on their website, but the link is dead for their instructions.
With the Jeep on ramps, am I just pushing the Engine in the wrong direction? I'm thinking that the Jeep needed to be level in order for the engine to go straight up.
Any tips would be appreciated. Oh, and I see on the drive line thread that we are supposed to disconnect the fuel pressure solenoid on the rear of the fuel rail. I don't remember doing that before, but I was wondering if I need to just unplug it or if I need to unscrew the whole unit from the rear of the long silver tube. (That description is certainly showing how much I know about my fuel system)
The engine might be sticking a bit on the threads of the motor mount. Try lifting some, and then giving it a good wiggle, or get a buddy to to the engine wiggle while you lift. I don't see anything wrong with having it up on ramps, but you'll have to lift the engine quite a bit to unload the suspension. Definitely DO NOT unscrew the fuel pressure solenoid. If you do, you'll have to buy a whole new one. Just unplug it so the connector doesn't get damage from the back of the engine getting close to the firewall as you lift it.
