Post subject:  Ignition "Actuator" Switch

I recently replaced my ignition switch and ever since then I have my Dash Lights for my AIRBAG, SEATBELT, ABS LIGHT on and my TPMS won't read. I've gone back in and made sure everything was plugged back correct and it was. The only thing I can think of is I did not unhook my battery while I did this repair, it only took a 10-15 minutes. Could this of caused these to turn on and how can I get them reset?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery now for an hour and connecting up again?
Have you tried putting the original switch back?

There is a post currently on jeepforum.com that I am involved in where some replacement ignition switches have their locating tab slightly in the wrong position so the switch sits slightly at the wrong orientation to the actuator pin/barrel assembly. This could cause starting problems and possibly if your switch is slightly out of alignment this could cause your problem.

Remove the ignition switch from its mounting and see if you get the same problems while turning the ignition ON using a small flat screwdriver. If it now works then you have to elongate the switch mounting hole so you can slightly rotate it in one or other direction relative to the barrel assembly and then tighten it down.

You may have disturbed some other connector in the general work area...you can test the Cluster by holding IN the Odometer Trip Reset Button while turning the ignition ON....this turns on all the cluster lights and gauges but I am pretty sure that it purely turns them on/off and does not actually fault-find them. :?

BillWill,
Thanks for the Reply, I've had the Battery disconnected for a week or two and they still light up, I've also checked all connections and all are hooked up and not loose. I'll search for that thread on Jeepforum unless you could post the link and Will try my luck on the switch being out of spec to make the this occur.
