There's more to the question...

I want a king bed and a nice sized bathroom. (I'm 6' 9") Maybe a couple of comfortable chairs to sit in. That's it!

I found this one that fits the bill.

I'm not sure about the overall quality so that's why I'm putting this question out there.

It's close to the 5000 lbs tow limit. I did a search here and all the threads are pretty old. But I did see where members have towed more than 5000 lbs. I do need to replace the fan clutch before I tow anything.

I'm trying to avoid buying a new vehicle. My KJ only has 95k miles on it so I think it'll be fine for a little longer.

Any other suggestions?

No suggestions. I wanted to go with an electric fan - I've been without a fan since last fall.

I am going to install the expensive thermostat housing and do not want to run without a fan at the higher temp.

I read yesterday about a 92 to 94 Volvo fan from a station wagon, I never figured out all the bits about whether you use the fan shroud from the Volvo or what. - the same as the Ford fans - only thinner?

They come with a usable wiring harness. I have no idea where to find one at a salvage yard - the nearest yards are at least 30 miles away, yards that might have Volvo parts are unknown and I don't have time to search, so I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a new fan clutch.

I feel like I'm wasting money going this route. So what is the best fan clutch/fan option?

I found this thread searching fan clutch

To OP - hope your timing belt job has been done.

Oh yeah. I dropped about $5k on my CRD four months after I purchased it. Timing belt, serpentine belt, all idlers for both, eTechno steel glow plugs, water pump, thermostat, Suncoast TC, GDE EcoTune FT, five new BFG Rugged Terrain 245/70's, Amsoil all around, and new front brakes/rotors. Oh and the manifold pressure sensor.

Almost forgot the Mr. Bob's CAC hoses. Also recently my extended paid for a new driveline for me and I had DCA re-replace the lower ball joints under recall. I also paid for the new fuel filter with the upgraded head.

All I have left is fan clutch and maybe the CPS at some point. Maybe a lift pump. I wouldn't mind Keith's turbo upgrade.

Yes, the limit is 5000# (and 64 square feet frontal area) and that might be OK at sea level and at low speeds. Even though others have towed 5000# and more with their CRDs I would recommend not more than 3000# and even then using a WD hitch (that probably precludes a king bed and big bathroom). I have towed four different trailers, the heaviest 3500# loaded and I can attest that with headwinds and going uphill you will need to drop to 3rd gear with unlocked TC with the trailer you are suggesting.

I suppose it depends on the actual trailer weight, speed of headwinds, and hill grade. We had no problem with hills, not mountains, between Tempe, AZ and Tally, FL and Tally and Kearney, NE with 2 adults in a fully loaded CRD with kayak on top and fully loaded 5X8 hHaul trailer but I have no clue as to trailer weight but reasonably certain it was somewhat over 2,500 lbs.
That was behind my son's 06 with a stock torque converter (minor few seconds of shudder twice, immediately went away when I backed off go pedal) and the GDE EcoTune. We towed both those runs in overdrive mostly in cruise control and only had problems when we first came out of the Central AZ valley. Those problems immediately went away when we figured out that when in cruise one needed to manually "anticipate" an upcoming grade and raise the speed which got us over most grades with no down shift at 60-62mph which was cruise setting. 22mpg for both trips IIRC.

Braking was fine including "panic" slowdown when some idiot TX driver cut us off coming thru San Antonio.

I've towed a 4500-5000 lb Mastercraft Wakeboat and it was fine on the flats but on minor hills(3-4%) in central NH it basically was almost WOT to maintain 65 mph. I would imagine a boat is a bit more aerodynamic than that trailer so I would guess that you will be struggling to keep at 65mph in all but flats. I also had a GDE Hot tune at the time and stock tires.

These jeeps just dont have a lot of power. Horsepower is what move trailers, not torque, so even with a Hot Tune you are only maxing a max of 200hp which just isnt a whole lot to move 10,000+ lbs(Jeep + trailer)
