On Wednesday of this week a careless driver (who was at fault) pulled out in front of my daughter while driving our 2006 CRD and she made contact at 45mph. Luckily no one was hurt badly, but I just received news from the insurance company that the Liberty is totaled. Really sad for us because we really loved this vehicle. All of my kids learned to drive in this Jeep. It was such a unique vehicle, even our friends loved it and wished they had one. I purchased it in 2008 with 20K miles on it, joined LOST, and have enjoyed 8 years of trouble free driving pleasure.
Although the body and front right corner took a beating in the accident, the drivetrain only had 133K miles on it, and is still perfectly intact, with only the intercooler and radiator as casualties.
The main take away for me is that this vehicle did a superb job of protecting the three occupants in this crash in light of the almost head-on impact. Secondly, I am sure that the adventures we enjoyed in this very capable Jeep over the past 8 years will be told by my children to my grandchildren for years to come.
