Hello fellow CRD owners, looking for some help diagnosing a strange noise coming from under the hood at idle. Lost noob here, I have read the guide and done a lot of research around the site. At first I thought my noise was either a failing serpentine belt tensioner or alternator decoupler, or a misaligned idler pulley or worn out bearing or something, so I removed the belt to see if the noise went away. It did not go away at all, so it must not be related to anything on the accessory belt at all. I found several videos on Youtube with sounds of worn out rockers on other CRDs, and none of them sound like mine. This video makes the same noise as mine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DclMo04EGLM. Earlier today I took off the fan and shroud to have a closer look before taking the belt off. I took a video of my noise, it is extremely similar - https://youtu.be/u0DiHPgFtn0. I have had the Weeks Kit Stage 1 and 2 installed as well as the Yeti tune. It is an 05 with 89,000 miles. Any help figuring out this noise is greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you haven't replaced the timing belt yet, now would be a good time.
The sound seems like it's coming from under the timing cover.

Even though your mileage isn't 100k the belt is definitely in need of changing due to age of its the original. If I had to guess its one of the idlers going bad.

Holy moley! Timing kit, NOW or even sooner!

I would advise against driving or even starting it again until this is done. You are risking the job more than doubling in scope and cost when (not if) whichever pulley completely fails and allows the belt to slip off of it. It sounds like the pulley is hitting the cover, which is REALLY BAD.

Email me (button below) if you need assistance with the job, and we can discuss the details.
