After cleaning my MAF sensor twice I was suprised how quick it sooted up it was plastered in 1,000 miles. what is the best method of stopping the EGR from working, putting all that soot and crap into the air intake can not be good for the engine?

Quickest method is to make a block off plate, this thread will tell you how:

Then you can also order a Weeks – EGR Bypass/FCV Delete, Intake Elbow Kit (Sasquatch Parts: https://shop.sasquatchparts.com/)
the kit allows you to completely remove the FCV and EGR valve and cooler and all associated plumbing....

Another option is the export intake elbow. It bolts up to our intake and is the correct length for the intake hose. Drill and tap the EGR tube connector for 3/4" NPT (pipe). You can then use a 3/4" pipe plug to block the hole or you can use a 3/4" x 1/8" NPT bushing (I bought a 304 stainless bushing from Amazon for $5) and use that for a boost gauge connection.

I had one of these shipped from the UK last November and postage was $33. It may be less now as the exchange rate has fallen from $1.50 to $1.33.

Here's the link to the 304 stainless 3/4" x 1/8" NPT bushing.

This is the splice that is used to remove the "Y" in the coolant return from the EGR cooler.

This is the plug and copper washer that is used to plug the threaded hole in the cylinder head that supplies the EGR cooler. The plug is cadmium plated and is compatible with aluminum.

I used these to remove the EGR cooler before Sasquatch started selling them as a kit. These components are EXACTLY those that are included in the stage 2 kit.

Thanks, I think I will go down the blanking plate route, in the eBay link what is meant by =

6) Unplug the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor located near the air box in order to prevent the Flow Control Valve (FCV) from operating. This will cause a check engine light (CEL). A tune can be used to eliminate FCV operation which also provides the benefit of no CEL.

"tune" what is there to do? :?:

A "Tune" is simply a re-flash of the on board computer (OBC) with some modified parameters that disable the operation of the FVC (flow control valve) and the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve. There are free tunes available along with "How To" instructions on this forum at: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=78418 All that is required is a laptop computer and a MPPS cable which is available on-line at eBay....

Another option when using the EGR block-off plate that was not mentioned is to remove the butterfly plate out of the flow control valve! There are only two small screws holding it to the FCV shaft and by removing it, renders it inoperative even though the OBC still thinks it is working. This way you can leave the MAF sensor plugged in and in service and not have any DTC (check engine lights). I ran this way for a period of time before the Weeks elbow kit became available.
I still recommend installing the Weeks elbow kit at some point and doing a re-flash of the OBC as it has several advantages like being able to totally remove the FCV, EGR, and EGR cooler and associated coolant lines and is the best option in the long run!!!
