Hello, new to the site, been reading it here for a little while. I'm planning on an '06 CRD for the wife, but some of the problems I've read about has me wondering if I should or not. Would you buy another one if the situation came up? Thanks in advance. |

Buy it. Warranty will take care of issues. Don't forget that issues can be over-exaggerated on the internet, or by 'negligent/abusive typical consumer' owners. Just make sure that you check your VIN for all TSB's and have them performed at the dealer prior to delivery. |

What deadrx7conv said. Hope they make them again or I can keep mine running forever. |

Nobody (hardly) ever posts that 'things are great and its running fine', so I wouldn't sweat it too much. That being said, I think the 06 warranty on all DC products is down to 3/36. I would negotiate in the extended warranty. -Vic |

Hey I have posted that on several ocassions I don't have any of the problems everyone is having. No tranny problems, no GP or GP wiring problem, no rear brake problem, staying steady 22/23 mpg city and 28/30 highway. My Torque converter lockes up at 50 mph and RPM's drop to about 1400, and at 1800 RPM I am doing 66 MPH, the shift into lock up has to be watch on the tac because the lock up is so smooth. My only real complaint is it has a bouncy stiff ride, but then I am comparing it to a 120" WB Dodge Magnum that is running on MB S Class suspension system with off the shelf E-Class seats.

I wasn't at my best due to it being about 0130 in the morning and having to pick up sick daughter at work. This is the first time I have ever had this happen, I heve tried to get it to happen before, but with the O/D on instead of off as this morning. Now I am starting to wonder about the choice of trannys. I have wondered if in Europe they used the MB 5-speed W5A580 automatic transmission in the Cherokee with this engine, this trans is also used in the Sprinter Van, MB I6 E-class CDI diesel here and in Europe and the LX platform cars from 3.5L V6, 5.7L V8 Hemi and the 6.1L SRT8 Hemi with about 450 lbs of torque. The W5A580 was designed to handle 600+ lbs of torque and would have been the ideal choice I would think, I'm guessing they might have used the 545R due to availability problems.

To put it into perspective, I traded a Lexus IS300 for my '05 Liberty. And I have no regrets. Sure, there's a few bumps and scrapes along the way, but every issue I've encountered has been resolved under warranty. The only REAL regrets I have in my purchase are related directly to the dealership I purchased from, not the product. Get it, you won't be disappointed! |

Mine threw the EGR code while I was test driving it, they fixed it and it's been trouble free ever since. 16,000 miles and enjoying life. |

I had went to bed the night before at about mid-night and was up at 3:30 am with sinus head ache till the event happened while going to pick up daughter after she got off work at 6 am that morning.

I also think D/C made a mistake with not using the NAG1/W5A80 MB trans, which also has the water problem at the dipstick seal. |

If a person sealed the dipstick tube seal, would the moisture boil out on its own over time or is the fluid going to keep it in suspension? I don't even know if this trans is vented, but I would think it would have to be. |

I would research the service dept. at the dealership. If they do not have any experince with a Diesel then I would go to another Dealer or at least another Dealership for service. Mine is currently in shop for a 2ed time for EGR valve. I took it in for proplems with the radio and they checked the codes for me anyway and found the EGR valve. Then while trying to flash the CPU they found a bad valve in the transmission. I don't think that any other Service Dept. would have found this. The Dealership I go to also sells Dodge trucks, Sprinter vans, and GM Diesels. |

Not the top of the tube where you stick the dip-stick in dipstick. Saints preserve me but I could not resist. |

O.K. - I guess my post could be read that way - if you look hard enough. |

Goglio704 wrote: O.K. - I guess my post could be read that way - if you look hard enough. It will evaporate through the fill tube, just as any other tranny. By the way you should never have even an ounce of water in the tranny, just a small amount from condensation. The current seal will leak when tranny is used in rainy weather or is submurged fording creeks or mud holes, which ain't cool for an off road vehicle and it wasn't cool for all the other vehicles effected either.

I had the little tranny issue at 7k miles. They fixed it under warranty and gave me a GMC Canyon to drive while they had it. Just took a trip to DC this weekend. 220 miles each way. Horrible Friday afternoon traffic (think of a 6-lane parking lot) on the way up there. Crazy I95 traffic on the way back (60MPH up the hills, then 98MPH down the hills). Spent the weekend at a conference in McLean, then my wife and I packed up the truck with a big load of books and our weekend bags. Stopped at Lowes on the way home and picked up a bunch of stuff (Rubbermaid 18-gallon containers were on sale). Stopped at a furniture place after that and piled a new futon mattress in there too. We left here with 3/4 tank of fuel and got back before it was empty. So..... Things are great and it's running fine. |

Thanks for the replies. Just having a bit of doubt about it. I did call the dealer today and talked to the service manager. Said that they haven't sold nor worked on any yet. Did say that he has 2 techs that have been schooled on them. That has me a bit worried hearing that. |
