My transmission broke today, with me in Corpus Christi, 1200 miles from home and 200 miles from my destination.

There are 6660 miles on the car.   No TSB has been done as I have not had it in for service yet.

I was driving 70 mph, heard a few sounds like the corrogated pavement at the side of the road to let you know you are about to end up in the ditch. Then, things were fine for about 20 minutes. Next the car revved to 4500 rpm for a minute and then went back into gear. I rolled along testing the car by shifting to 2 and putting it in overdrive and each time it went to 4500 rpm. Then after stopping at a red light it was no go. Step on the gas and rev 4500 rpm to crawl forward at 1 mph. Put it in reverse, crawl back at 1 mph.

So I just got towed to the dealer (who is closed) and got a hotel room. Any tips on how to make sure that:

1. My week is not totally ruined (I have work I need to do in Brownsville)
2. I get back home on time for work on Monday?
and
3. I get reimbursed for my rental and hotel?

Jake

I would demand a loaner but you may need to get your dealer to go to bat for you.

Oh that really sucks, must be the 666 on the odometer. You are likely on you own until that dealer opens on Monday. If it were me, I would rent a car and keep rolling (keeping your job is a good thing). Should be able to at least find a rental car franchise in the area and get a car. Look for an airport, even small ones have rental car counters that are open odd hours, You can always argue for a refund later. My trans acts up when it's hot, dealer thinks I'm imagining this and spend too much time getting service advice off the internet.
