I am close to pulling the trigger on a lift kit for my CRD, from what I can tell lurking on here and doing a search is really the only option for re-calibration is taking to a dealership? Is this accurate? Also most of the threads I found through the search function were for the gassers. Anything unique I need to know for the CRD?

Lifting a CRD is the same as lifting a gasser.
Just go with the heavier OME springs.
JeepinByAl will have all the parts you need.

Yup. Dealer only for speedo calibration.
Not really a huge deal though.
With my 245-75-16 tires, my speedo is 3mph slow at 60mph and my odo is only 4% slow.

Oh yea, I understand the lift kit is the same...only difference is the stiffness of the front springs to handle the extra weight of the CRD...I meant my last comment in context of most threads I found on speedometer re calibration were in relation to the gas motors.

Honestly, my speedo is more accurate now that I put the 265/70-16's on it than it was with the stock tires. Maybe check your before you make the change.

My speedo reads a couple miles per hour fast at 80. Even with the larger tires. My odometer reads slow though.

My ODO and speedo are more accurate than its ever been with my 245/75/R16 tires.

That's a good point.

I routinely do 4mph over at highway speeds on my daily commute. With the Ranger I had before the Liberty, I was passing more people than they were passing me in general. In my Jeep, I feel as though I'm passed more than I pass people. I've been meaning to check my speedometer against my GPS...so I'll throw it in the cab for tomorrow.

Yea GPS said that my speedo was reading 3mph fast. So we might be just fine

So last Thursday I ordered a Rockfather II kit from RRO.

And Friday I ordered a set of 4 BFG A/T KO2's - 265/70/r16s. Wanted the 265/75s, but chickened out on the prospect of how much I'd hate myself for having to put up with rubbing for life.

Hoping to take on the pinch weld and inner fender modding before too long, but we shall see. Next weekend looks pretty busy, might be able to slip something in Saturday morning, who knows.

I rub with the 275/70R16's. I have a OME lift with a Clevis spacer and JBA top plate. I think next time around I am going to go with the 275/75 and just start hammering and cutting where I need too, or just do an SAS.

I found the '06 KJ was moving at 57 mph (actual) when it indicated 60 mph.

I put a Skyjacker 2.5" lift and 245/75/16s on it, and that corrected the speedo error to almost dead-on.

Typically the best approach I have found to correcting the speedo is to see how far off the speedo is based on the GPS as a percentage. Then take the as found revs/mile and factor that in, IE if it reads 5% slow up the revs/mile by 5%.

Trying to calculate the revs/mile that should be entered seems not to give very good results.
