In the beginning there was the EGR, it provided much discussion and source for concern. Now who cares about the EGR? From 4 diffrent message boards I looked at today, I count at least 4 transmissions that went south over the weekend. My gut tells me ULSD and the new design will make the EGR issues go away)(along with us knowing now the oil dipstick is not accurate), the TSB's for the tranny (filters) don't fix it, the new TC in 21-009-06 may or may not do it, but because of the 3 needed symptoms most of us won't get to see that get done because the whole tranny will die, many without displaying the symptoms. It will be nice when all this "early adopter" crap goes away so we can just deal with the balljoints until the warranty is dead and we get Moogs.... |

Assuming that the catastrophic failures are modeled with a Poisson distribution would lead one to believe that the number of failures is happening in disjoint intervals and that they are independent of each other. However, 4 in one weekend throws out the disjoint intervals. Also makes one suspect if one or two posters whose transmission actually failed, triggered additional "copy cat" posters. That would make those events not independent. |

True, i had a stalling issue in the mornings, I knew it was the filters in the tranny that was root. I never posted a problem because it was easy to avoid (wait a minute) and easy to fix once I convinced the dealership to do the TSB. No big issue in other words. If my tranny "trashed" however and I saw others posting the same, I would definatly get on here and post"me as well" because that isn't a small issue. |

Hello, Well I got my CRD in Sept. I've been lurking here since that time and this is my first post. You can add me to the list on the tranny issues. Up to now I've had 2 EGR's, WasteGate, ECU is on back order for replacement as well. I had the filter service done early this year and that fixed hesitation when shifting into drive after an overnight sit. On to the current problem. I was driving last week and all of a sudden it would not shift out of 2nd into 3rd. RPM's would climb, but no shift. After I feathered the throttle a bit it would finally shift. Once I stopped and it cooled down, the problem would not repeat itself. Couple days later I was leaving work and from a stop I would accelerate, before it would shift to 2nd I would let off and there would be a bad shudder from the tranny. Too late to drop it off at the dealer that night...My wife was driving it the next day, still had the shudder, then the "TRANS" idiot light came on. She let it cool down and then we drove it to the dealer. Just before we got to the dealer, it would not shift out of 2nd again. Before we took it to the dealer I checked the tranny fluid and all was OK. Was full and not burnt from what I could tell. That was Friday at lunch when we dropped it off. They said today or tomorrow would be when I would hear something. As soon as they give me the diagnosis, I will post it along with the fix. BTW - I told the service rep that I needed a car and don't have the extended warranty. He said "You know DC's policy, no extended warranty, they won't pay for a car". I said "Yeah, that's why we're talking to the Service Manager. I've had all these issues, this is new technology and I'm your test subject. Time for DC to step up and compensate me for that." Needless to say I'm driving a rental they're paying for. |

That's a lever operated option on the drivers seat when you need to remove excess waste from your shorts because you went through 2 EGR's a ECU and a pet EMU for breakfast. |

Well, I don't even pretend to know all the technical aspects of this rig. I'm just repeating the lies that flow so easily off the tounge of the stealership service rep. In fact I was so uncomfortable with that dealer that a different one is handling the tranny. Maybe they'll be better. That's why I keep and eye on this page as there are some smart diesel heads out here. One day the warranty will be gone and I'll have to do the service on this thing. I'm trying to learn all I can. If it was a Ford 302, I would not need this place or the stealership. LOL Thanks for the info on the waste gate. Good to know. Ron |

What's this about the oil dipstick being inaccurate? Must have missed a post about it somewhere.....does it read high or low? |

Some dipsticks seem to read about 1/8" to 3/16" low when oil and filter is changed and the required 6.4 qts are put in. 6.4 = 6 qt and 12.8 oz or as I did 6 qt's & 12 oz and on my stick it shows a up after sitting over night as 1/8 to 3/16 inch below the factory line, so I filed a new fill line. Also on my CRD the original dipstick and tube was replaced, because it was bent beyond use when delivered. |

I'm in Dallas/Ft. Worth. I use the same moniker at edmunds. There are service issues in the metroplex. Bought supposedly first non-ordered crd(met jeep/dcx regional somebody there that day) in the metroplex at Meador, but use Grubbs for parts and service. Name the dealers. |

Purchased from Dallas Dodge on 635 in Garland. Originally started using Rockwall Dodge for service as it was more convienent to the house. Now back at Dallas Dodge for the tranny work. Rockwall Dodge had told me they were a sister dealer to Dallas Dodge. Now Dallas Dodge is tellign me that's not the case. DD did mention that Rockwall seem to be green on service issues. We'll see if I get more knowledge from DD. Thanks, Ron |

Thanks, I'm sorry I can't help with those. Grubbs in Bedford is a non truck but at least works with/listens to customers. A recent service customer goes there now because after calling around found that only Grubbs knew what oil to put in a crd. Visited Huffines in Lewisville, but never used them. If it becomes desperate, call Grubbs' Sean Tierney-parts manager and just talk. Gerry - the service manager listens to jeep owners. Good luck - most owners who wrench know more than most mechanics (numerous models and changes to deal with) about their particular vehicle. |

Dealer called...Torque Coverter was coming apart. He said that they were replacing the Torque Converter, Valve body, Pump and clutches. Sounds pretty much like a total rebuild. Apparently whatever was coming out of the torque converter was plugging up the system. 1 to 2 more days for the fix. Least that's what he said. |
