Hi y'all. If you would kindly point me to the place I can find pictures or youtube of replacement of the hoses I've ordered. I expect them this week. I've read the NOOB guide but honestly don't understand all of it. Search is my friend: but I don't even know what to search. there are 2 separate issues here. Noob to this forum - trying to find relevant info - and Noob to the idea of DIY on my CRD.

Imagine you are trying to help your wife, your sister, your daughter to replace these parts. she has no ego about this. she knows she knows nothing. she is not afraid to follow clear instructions, has a driveway and basic tools and knows it might take some time and patience.

OK: this is what is arriving from ID parts:

1X SILICONE INTERCOOLER HOSE KIT (LIBERTY CRD)
1X TURBOCHARGER INLET HOSE (LIBERTY CRD)

and this is the info I've found in the NOOB guide, which is maybe older? or different?:

lets check your Boost hoses. Oily mist coats the intake and gets all over the inside surface of the hoses, this causes the hoses to soften, and then split or rupture. If your hoses are original you could be driving around on a ticking time bomb so to speak. Don't worry, if this does happen it won't kill the engine, or damage anything else, but you will be driving a vehicle with almost no power, and one that really can't be safely driven in traffic. Basically you should be able to limp home with a bad hose, and then wait a week for a new one to arrive while your Jeep sits in the garage. If there are any ruptures, tears, splits etc, then they need to be replaced now. If there are any very soft or gooey spots you should start thinking about replacements. While you have them out go ahead and give them a hand cleaning with some dawn type soap. You might want to do this outside with the garden hose as the WD(Wife department) will most likely be upset when she see's this being done in her kitchen. There are two options for replacement, OEM hoses, or Samco hoses. The new OEM turbo side hose comes with a new oil resistant liner, the drivers side intake hose does not. The new Samco units are stouter than stock, both have the oil resistant liners, come in different colors if you care about such things, but are a little more expensive than OEM.

Here is a good thread that debates the merits of both:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=51797

Boostcontroller.com has been the best source so far for the Samco hoses:
http://www.boostcontroller.com/index.ph ... ord%3Djeep

MoparPartsAmerica has the new OEM set at $200 + shipping, you will need to part numbers below:
http://www.moparpartsamerica.com
new turbo side intercooler hose - 55038729AA
new intake side intercooler hose - 55037730AD

In addition to the Boost hoses the turbo inlet hose can fail as well from a combination of heat and CCV residue. It's not a right away sort of thing, but it's a silent killer sort of thing, so you really need to check it at some point. This hose runs from the airbox down to the turbo inlet, and some pictures and discussion can be found here:

Here is one I found, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyMld664-Bw Be sure to look closely at the one on the driver side as it has a different size ends and can get confusing, its best to mark one end and match up the new one to it then install. It looks more difficult than it is, just two clamps on each and wiggle them out, you will get dirty!

If I am reading this right you are getting 2 intercooler/CAC hoses with 4 clamps and 1 airbox to turbo hose. How to with directions when standing in front of the engine.

Tools - all you need is a regular slotted screwdriver although a long shaft one might be handy. Alternatively appropriate socket/ratchet/extensions. Nitrile gloves are handy to keep hands reasonably clean - local hardware/paint store or https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1

Airbox to turbo hose:
1. remove left side CAC hose - undo worm clamps at both ends; gently twist to break loose and remove. Pay attention to which end is which and match to replacement hose. Set replacement hose and original to one side.
2. undo clamps at both ends of airbox to turbo hose and work hose lose. This may be a bit difficult as there is a hose that goes from the airbox to turbo hose up to the CCV valve (hockey puck like thing on top of engine). I find it best to try to pull airbox to turbo hose with the CCV hose attached.
3. remove CCV hose from old airbox to turbo hose. This may require some twisting and pulling as there is a ridge near the end of the CCV hose that engages with a groove where it fits into the airbox to turbo hose.
4. install CCV hose into new airbox to turbo hose
5. remove any oil remaining on the airbox to turbo mounting flanges. NOTE this will also need to be done for all the CAC hose flanges
6. work new airbox to turbo hose into place. Turbo end should cover all or nearly all of the flange it mounts on. Airbox end should touch MAF sensor.
7. tighten the worm clamps. Do NOT godzilla the airbox clamp or you will, I know, crush the airbox plastic flange.

CAC hose(s)
1. install the left side CAC hose
2. the OEM hose has witness marks (inverted "V") that helps line things up but my SAMCOs did not; don't know about idParts hoses. If no witness mark "wiggle" the CAC hose until it is routed clear of any things it might rub on such as the sensor on the side of the airbox.
3. tighten clamps. Again no godzilla on plastic flange on intercooler.
4. FYI some have had issues with CAC hose(s) popping off due to boost pressure combined with oil no mounting flange. A clean flange and maybe a bit of sticky hair spray solves the problem.
5. remove right side CAC hose taking not of orientation.
6. install new right side CAC hose per above.

Just add to the above...

I find getting to the passenger side inlet and boost hose is a lot easier with the air filter box removed. All you have to do is:
1. Disconnect the two sensors on the lid
2. Remove the lid and filter
3. Pull the box out. It's held in with rubber grommets. Just need a little muscle to yank it out.

I have found it more time consuming to try and get all the rubber grommets set back in on the airbox correct than actually changing the hose without pulled the airbox.

In fact a loathe the airbox a fair bit because I have had a number fight me.

And thats with greasing up the grommets and airbox.

Weird thing happened to mine.
All those grommets just up and disappeared.
I cant imagine how or why that happened

Yeah, I don't worry about those grommets either - They seem to have a habit of just vanishing. ;)

For installing the airbox-to-turbo hose onto the turbo, here is a way to make your life a LOT easier: Aluminum anti-seize paste. Get a bottle / jar of it from the auto store, and wipe it liberally around the small end of the hose (the end right next to the sharp 90 degree bend) on the INSIDE. This will allow the hose to easily slide into place and will have no effect at all on sealing.

Holy cow guys. Amazing step by step. Thanks. But I really have doubts here. I can make sourdough bread. I can knit a sweater. Throw a clam bake. But wow not sure. Will keep you posted. Thank you.

What doubts. If you can knit a sweater, I cannot, you can turn a screwdriver which is all you really need to know how to do.
